prairie dog magazine was nominated for an award at the Mayor’s Luncheon for Business & the Arts a few years ago. I forget what the exact category was. It might have been for Sustained Support for the Arts or perhaps Corporate Support for the Arts. Regardless, we did not emerge victorious so thus were denied the opportunity to deliver the teary-eyed acceptance speech that we’d prepared. C’est la vie.

The seventh annual awards luncheon goes today at noon at Conexus Arts Centre. Here’s a link to the nominees in the different categories.   Tickets are $54, and net proceeds from the event are going to Creative City Centre, the facility that Marian Donnelly’s been working to get going for several years now above Loggie’s Shoes in the 18 block Hamilton. Creative City Centre will serve as an arts incubator offering programming and professional development services to help artists not only survive, but thrive, in Regina. The Centre is scheduled to open in May, so stay tuned for more coverage down the road.
