Amy Winehouse Dead at 27

Here’s a link to a CBC report that British jazz/soul singer Amy Winehouse was found dead at her home in London on Saturday. For years Winehouse had battled drug and alcohol addiction, so her death won’t come as a shock. But it will still leave a lot of people bummed out.

Here’s a link to her video from a few years ago for “You Know I’m No Good”.

  1. Just because someone has addiction issues doesn’t mean you expect them to die at every turn. I’d say it was pretty damn shocking.

  2. I agree. Pretty much every young death comes as a shock. The % of drug-addled celebrities who’ve actually died is probably pretty low, like 1% or less? IMOpioniones.

  3. when I first heard “Rehab” on the radio, I could have sworn I’d inadvertently missed a Motown singer from ‘way back when. A shining talent, gone far too soon.

  4. It is sad but not at all shocking, especially if you recall her recent public behaviour. No one would ever say she was “high-functioning”.

  5. She was probably left to flounder on her own. Think about Elton John, Clapton, Keith Richards, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, etc etc etc, all the notorious drug fiends who lived to tell about it.
