Rabid sun-baked fuckwit psychos from the U.S. state that recently criminalized brown skin (CBC) are now going after murals on schools that have offended the sensibilities of decent folk by… including depictions of children of colour (Prescott Daily Courier).

From the Atlantic:

A mural painted on the side of Miller Valley Elementary School in Prescott, Arizona depicts a group of children of different races. This spring, as the mural was being painted, it attracted the ire of a certain percentage of locals, including city councilman Steve Blair, who wondered on his radio show why the mural featured children of color so prominently. Things seemed about to come to a head when the principal of Miller Valley Elementary asked the mural artists to lighten the faces of the minority children–but last week, the school backed off, saying that the mural would remain as it is. Observers have followed the story with mounting wonder.

Fucking douchecocks!

Fortunately there were decent people who stood up when racism reared its ugly snout (Daily Courier). Still, this is just fucking unbelievable. What is wrong with these malevolent shitwipes?

Roger Ebert has no answers, but he does say what needs to be said about America, anger, racism, fear and hatred:

“Not along ago I read this observation by Clint Eastwood: “The less secure a man is, the more likely he is to have extreme prejudice.” Do the drive-by haters feel insecure? How are they threatened? What have they talked themselves into? Who benefits by feeding off their fear? We have a black man in the White House, and I suspect they don’t like that very much. They don’t want to accept the reality that other races live here right along with them, and are doing just fine and making a contribution and the same sun rises and sets on us all. Do they fear their own adequacy? Do they grasp for assurance that they’re “better”–which means, not worse? Those poor people. It must be agony to live with such hate, and to seek the company of others so damaged.” (Chicago Sun-Times)

Geez. Arizona. A lotta people need a lotta therapy.

(Yes, yes. Throwing stones in glass houses and all that. I know Saskatchewan has its own heinous racism. How dare I condemn Arizona? Well, for one thing, if something like this happened here I guarantee the Powers-That-Be — from the Chamber of Commerce to the media to corporate Queen City — would absolutely crushthe loudmouth racist idiots faster than you can say “new stadium”. And if a city councillor was unapologetically leading the charge against diversity murals? Pat Fiacco would flip. The mayor might have to be restrained from personally beating the douchebag half to death. Arguably, to his credit.

Okay, I know, I know. I realize we’re far from perfect. Feel free to write your essays on Regina’s de facto economic/structural racism in the comments section. But we’re still better than Arizona.)
