Band Swap III

We’ve written on this event previously. What it involves is local musicians coming together and doing a bit of a mix and match through a random draw to form temporary cover bands. The bands then spend a day or two learning a few songs and then play a joint concert for charity.

It’s always a fun event, and this year’s version goes Friday at the Exchange. Assuming things go according to plan, there will be seven bands on the bill — each composed of five members. Doors are at 8 p.m., and tickets are $15 advance and $20 at the door.

In addition to supporting a worthwhile cause (proceeds this year go to Carmichael Outreach Centre) Band Swap also serves as an interesting musical experiment, with musicians from different genres getting to share their diverse talents, possibly leading to Travelling Wilburys’ style collaborations down the road:
