Berlusconi Update: Holocaust Memorial Day Edition

The Guardian:

Speaking to reporters at a commemoration event during which he appeared to fall asleep, Berlusconi said Mussolini’s antisemitic race laws were the most blameworthy initiative of someone “who, in many other ways, by contrast, did well”.

He also said Italy “did not have the same responsibilities as Germany” and that Mussolini’s co-operation with Hitler was “not entirely conscious at the start”.

If only there was a way to take joy from all of the former — and potentially returning — Italian prime minister’s antics. Comments like this makes it hard! As does the prospect of him again being the leader of a country. I think there’s only one way for the wacky, wildly inappropriate world leader thing to work in this case: let him have his own nation to himself, like Dr. Doom and Latveria.
