I’m just editing (i.e. reading and trying to come up with a headline for) Emmet’s article on Celso Machado for Thursday’s paper. This guy sounds incredible. Emmet gushes:
Machado uses the body of his guitar as a percussion instrument, impossibly tapping a rhythm even as he plucks the strings. He uses his breath to further fill out the sound, and if you didn’t see it with your own eyes, you might think there was a whole band on stage.
So I YouTubed Machado up, and…
W o w.
Kind of puts all the indie rock/pop/schlock I listen to into perspective. Show’s Thursday, the day of the paper and it’s the same night as the Gwynne Dyer talk, dammit. I think I’m going to have to figure out a way to be in two places at the same time.
