Let’s Crowdsource This Bad Boy RE: Library Voices Review

Bling bling!!!As James “Jimbrolaya” Brotheridge just pointed out, Stephen “Wizzy” Whitworth has directed visitors to this site to visit the poll to the side to figure out who’s going to review Library Voices’ late-summer pop bombshell, Summer of Lust.

You can go with your gut, of course, and feel like you’ve helped out by picking one of the dog‘s staffers to go through the record. Or you can take the advice of Jimbrolaya there and vote for esteemed columnist/political greyhound/articulate opinion generator John Conway to finally pick up the album reviewer’s mantle and ascend gloriously to the throne with about a dozen locally-crafted indie-pop confections in hand.

But let’s not kid ourselves – you don’t wanna hear what these hipster doofuses have to say. You want to hear what the people think! The people must rise up and control the means of reviewing!

I am announcing a contender for the definitive Library Voices review, one that circumvents bogus, un-punk stuff like “fact checking” and “authority” and “any kind of compensation whatsoever”. All you have to do is participate.

The first step is to go to the Exclaim! website and listen to the record before you buy it. Then, to make sure your voice is really heard,* go to the comments section on this post (or, if you’d prefer your quotes to be a surprise, the ask box over on my Tumblr, where I’ll ask you to write “LIBRARY VOICES REVIEW:” into the box), type up a short sentence or two describing the record and submit it to me. Next Thursday – when the next prairie dog issue comes out – I will compile the best sentences I’ve received into one glorious and obviously perfect paragraph,** at which point I will post it on the Dog Blog as the Official Unofficial Library Voices Crowdsourced Counter-Review.

Let’s get going! The listeners united shall never be defeated!

DISCLAIMER: IN NO WAY IS THE ABOVE POST RELATED TO MY PERSONAL ABSENCE FROM THE POLL. NO, SERIOUSLY. I JUST THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE A FUN THING TO DO.

*Well, you should probably vote in the poll, since it’ll be fun, and Jimbrofroyo is right that you should vote for John Conway. But do this other thing too.
**Between six and ten people can’t be wrong!

  1. Why are you guys so obsessed with this band? They are boring beyond bland. Are you friends with them that you need to champion them?

  2. Library Voices is okay, but I can’t figure out why PD keeps pushing The Fainting Goat. Mediocre food in a trendoid veneer.

  3. I think you’re confusing “pushing the Fainting Goat” with “we have run their paid ads”. Could be wrong though. They did get a good review back in the day and for a while they had a great bartender.

(Trivia: I’ve been told by well-placed sources that there’s been some turmoil there but the restaurant has new owners so it’ll be interesting to see if it gets back on track.)
