Mourning A Toxic Asset

NPR’s Planet Money podcast did something pretty cool a while back: between five reporters, they each chipped in and bought a $1000 toxic asset, hoping that by investigating it they could reveal some of the reasons behind the economic collapse.

It was a fruitful effort, except that recently, Toxie – the name listeners gave to the toxic asset – died.

The video above gives a good overview of the whole situation, but the series of podcasts that came out of it are illuminating and a must-listen in my books.

The Planet Money crew are already onto their next project – they’re taking the money they made back from Toxie and dumping it into gold. Glenn Beck would be proud, no doubt.
