Pick of the Day: Deer Tick

If you’re squeamish about insects, especially of the blood-sucking variety, you Google image search this Providence, Rhode Island-based alt-country band at your peril.

Fronted by guitarist/singer-songwriter John McCauley (that’s him in the white shirt), Deer Tick have four full-length albums to their credit, with their most recent release being Divine Providence in 2011.

Tonight, they’re in town to play a show at the Exchange. Sharing the bill are The Novaks and Turbo Fruit. Doors are at 8 p.m., and tickets are $22.50 adv.

To give you a taste, here’s video from 2010 of Deer Tick performing their song “Baltimore Blues No. 1” on Late Night With David Letterman.
