Pick Of The Day: Forward Together Lecture

This lecture is a cooperative effort between the University of Regina, First Nations University of Canada and Campion and Luther Colleges. According to a press release we received at the office, it highlights their  “joint commitment to a common academic and social purpose that promotes inclusiveness, understanding, social justice, and human rights.”

This year’s speaker is Saskatchewan-born singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie. The topic of her talk is “Detoxifying Aboriginal Self-Identity”. The lecture goes tonight at First Nations University at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, and the talk will be followed by a reception and book signing for First Nations University professor Blair Stonechild’s recently published biography of Sainte-Marie which is titled Buffy Sainte-Marie: It’s My Way.

To close, here’s video from a few years ago of Buffy Sainte-Marie performing “Universal Soldier” on QTV:

Greg Beatty is a crime-fighting shapeshifter who hatched from a mutagenic egg many decades ago. He likes sunny days, puppies and antique shoes. His favourite colour is not visible to your puny human eyes. He refuses to write a bio for this website and if that means Whitworth writes one for him, so be it.
