This is the second go round for this improv festival. As Jayden Pfeiffer noted in a short preview I did in our June 3 issue, the festival was well-received by Reginans last year and the hope is to continue to grow the festival until it becomes as big as the Edmonton and Chicago Improv Festivals.
Okay, that’s not really the hope. But the potential certainly exists for the festival to carve a nice little niche for itself in the network of improv festivals that exist across Canada.

The last word I have on the festival line-up is that the General Fools will kick the festival off tonight at 7:30 p.m. on the main stage at the Globe Theatre. A post-show reception is also on tap for tonight.
Friday, there’ll be performances of Harold of Galactus (an improvised comic book) and Turned (described as zombie-apocalypse survival improv) beginning at 7:30 p.m. Then at 10 p.m. Jayden Pfeiffer and Ryan Beil will remount Skin & Lungs. Saturday at 7:30 p.m. there’s duo shows by Sunday Service and SCRAM at 7:30 p.m. The festival winds up at 10 p.m. with Doppelganger where an ensemble cast will use short videos shot earlier that day as a springboard for live improv.

Also on tonight, there’s a CD release for Living in the Boom Times at Artesian on 13th. They’ll be backed up by the Stolen Hombres. Doors are at 7:30 p.m., with the show at 8:30 p.m. Tix are $15 and can be obtained at Mysteria Gallery or the door. And if you happen to be in the Cathedral District, Traditions Handcraft Gallery (2714 13th Ave.) has a Meet the Artist reception for ceramist Anne McLellan whose show Layers is on at the gallery until July 3. It’s on from 6-8 p.m.
