Pick Of The Day: Kevin Page

Kevin PageTonight at the Education Auditorium at the University of Regina the Saskatchewan branch of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives is hosting a free public talk by the former Parliamentary budget officer Kevin Page (pictured). The talk, which starts at 7 p.m., is titled The State of Canada’s Institutions: What It Means For Our Democracy and Prosperity.

Whether intentional or not the event coincides nicely with Right To Know Week. To commemorate RTKW the RPL Theatre is screening two films that explore the news and information climate that we currently operate under.

Shadows of Liberty addresses the impact of media concentration on our society. It screens tonight and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Friday and Sunday at 9 p.m. The other film on the bill is Greedy Lying Bastards and it examines the climate change denial industry. It screens Thursday and Saturday at 9 p.m. and Friday and Sunday at 7 p.m.
