Presented by the Regina Jazz Society, this is a tribute concert to American jazz pianist Bill Evans (pictured). Born in New Jersey in 1929, Evans played with some of the giants of jazz like Billie Holiday, Miles Davis and Tony Bennett. In addition, he fronted several of his own groups, and is generally considered to be one of the most influential jazz pianists in the post-WWII era. Throughout his career, though, he battled addiction to heroin and cocaine and passed away at the tragically young age of 51 in 1980.
Tonight’s concert features Frank Lozano (Sax), Guy Boivert (Bass), Pierre Tanguay (Drums) and Francois Bourassa (Piano). It’s at LeBistro (3850 Hillsdale St), with doors at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are RJS members $15, Non-Members $20, Students $10.
