Pick Of The Day: Matt Mays

Born in Hamilton, Matt Mays grew up in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. It was as a Maritimer that Mays first made his mark on the Canadian music scene with his band El Torpedo in 2005. That band broke up in 2009, and Mays continued to perform with former El Torpedo members Adam Baldwin and Jay Smith.

Last year around this time Mays released the album Coyote, and tonight he’s in town to play a show at the Exchange. It’s being billed as a solo acoustic show, but Baldwin will apparently be performing as well. Tragically, Smith passed away earlier this year while on tour.
