This two-day conference on French science-fiction throughout the centuries kicks off tonight with a special screening of two films at the RPL Theatre. The films are a 1962 featurette by Chris Marker called La Jette which will be followed by a longer film by graphic artist Enki Bilal called Immortal: Ad Vitam. That film stars Charolotte Rampling, and the screening starts at 7 p.m. with regular RPL admission prices in effect.

Then on Friday and Saturday, the conference will take place at the Language Institute at the University of Regina. In addition to all the papers that will be presented and panel discussions that will be held, a keynote address will be given by Quebec author, educator and translator Elisabeth Vonarburg Friday at 8 p.m.
