Pick of the Day: The Great Bloomers

The latest CD by this Toronto quintet arrived at the office a couple of weeks ago. It’s called Distant Fires, and after giving it a few listens I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s pretty darn good.

Tonight we’re doing production on our Nov. 15 issue — a process that ideally should be wrapped up around 7 p.m., but due to various reasons ranging from epic fails by writers to meet deadline to late arriving ads to a pile of other potential glitches, typically isn’t.

Regardless, with these guys in town to play a show at O’Hanlon’s Pub tonight, I’ll be doing my darndest to make sure we’re done by 10 p.m. or so.

To give you a taste, here’s a video from a year ago for the Bloomers’ song “The Young Ones Slept”.
