Pick Of The Day: The Pack A.D.

If it wasn’t that the Sept. 9 print edition of prairie dog was our annual Back to School issue, this hard rocking blues duo from Vancouver would’ve been on the cover. A bunch of us are fans and besides, The Pack A.D. kicks ass.

Alas, the force wasn’t with prairie dog, so The Pack shall have to fulfill their Regina magazine cover destiny another time. I’m sure they’ll cope with the disappointment somehow.

As for us, we fully intend to catch the duo (singer/songwriter/guitarist Becky Black [left above] and drummer/songwriter Maya Miller) at O’Hanlon’s Pub tonight. You should come too–and while you’re out you should buy a copy of the band’s latest CD, We Kill Computers.

Backing them up will be Young Rival, also excellent (and also packing a great new album).

To get you pumped, here’s the hilarious video for “Blackout” from the Pack A.D.’s 2008 record Funeral Mixtape.
