Pick of the Day (Tomorrow Edition): Performatorium

Organized by Gary Varro and the folks at Queer City Cinema, this three-day festival of queer performance kicks off Thursday night with a series of artist talks and a panel discussion at Riddell Centre (Rm 050) at the University of Regina. The event runs from 6-9 p.m., and participants include Zackary Drucker (Los Angeles); Heather Cassils (Los Angeles/Montreal); Helena Goldwater (London); Jamie Lewis Hadley (London); and Cindy Baker (Saskatoon); with Blair Fornwald, newly named curator at the Dunlop Gallery, as moderator.

Friday and Saturday, the above-noted artists will be presenting actual performances. Aging, gender, queer history and culture, even the physicality of professional wrestling, are some of the issues they will explore. The complete program, along with brief descriptions of what each work involves, can be accessed here:

  1. Re workshops in professional wrestling:
In the interest of public safety, all foreign objects will be confiscated at the door and (for this event only) the folding chairs will be affixed to the floor.
