We included the official program guide for the 2014 Regina Folk Festival in our July 24-Aug. 6 issue. In our Aug. 7-20 issue which hits the streets today we’ll have some editorial coverage about the festival and all the great artists who will be performing this weekend.

Here’s a brief recap of what to expect in Victoria Park and the surrounding area. Friday, Aug. 8 the mainstage acts are Elliott Brood, Mexican Institute of Sound, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Blitz the Ambassador and Sam Roberts Band. Gates are at 5 p.m. and Elliott Brood kicks things off at 6 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 9 the mainstage acts are QuiQue Escamilla, Klô Pelgag, Indigo Girls, Saidah Baba Talibah and Serena Ryder. Again, gates are at 5 p.m. and things will get going at 6 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 10 the mainstage acts are The Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer, DahkaBrahka, Matt Andersen, Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens and Los Lobos. Start time is again 6 p.m.

In addition to the mainstage acts, there’s also after parties at the Exchange on Friday and Saturday starting at midnight. Then, of course, there’s free daytime stages with concerts and workshops that run from 11:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. And if you’re downtown on Friday, the Winnipeg band Royal Canoe will be playing a free set on the Scarth Street Mall from noon to 1:15 p.m.
