Six In The Morning: Santorumpocalypse?

1 DID RICK SANTORUM ALMOST SAY WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE HE ALMOST SAID? You tell me. And kudos to John Cameron for winning the Internet last night — he posted the video (which, yes, is legit) ahead of every major blog and news outlet (I had no idea he was a 4chan regular!). As of this a.m., the clip’s on Gawker, The Huffington post, Wonkette, etc. Give it two more hours and it’ll be everywhere. Here’s the first official denial I could find.

2 SPEAKING OF GAWKER It has an entertaining post about the breastonaut who had the world’s first silicon implant surgery.

3 OH YEAH, THE BUDGET Here’s this morning’s coverage on CBC, in The Globe and Mail and The Toronto Star, on Rabble, by the Canadian Press and on the BBC. And you need to read this John Ibbitson column, especially if you read nothing else on the budget. Speaking of the poor CBC, ouch. Fair point, I guess, but it seems a little like criticizing an abused spouse for being messed up from abuse.

If you hate this budget, and you should, it’s time to start donating to the political parties fighting the Tories. Whether that’s the NDP, Liberals or Greens. I mean it. Pick one or even all three, and do it today. These guys are killing our beautiful country.

4 THE PESTICIDES THAT PROTECT CROPS FROM INSECTS ARE KILLING THE BEES THAT FERTILIZE PLANTS WE EAT Not a surprise but nice to see actual evidence start to emerge.

5 BACK TO AMERICA AND DOWN WITH REPUBLICANS The recall election on Wisconsin’s terrible, union-smashing Republican governor is on, aw yeah. Also, all the pretty Republicans are backing Mitt Romney now. Speaking of Republicans, here’s a handy list of their anti-woman bullshit.

6 DID AN ANTI-GUN REGISTRY SASK MP SAY EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE GUNS? Maybe.

BONUS VIDEO: BRITISH CONSERVATIVES ARE A LOT OF AWFUL THINGS BUT THEY’RE NOT HOMOPHOBIC The Washington Post has an article. This, of course, is old news:

A rare prairie dog thumbs-up to Britain’s Conservatives!

About Stephen Whitworth

Stephen Whitworth is a life-long fan of newspapers and alternative media who got his start in the student press a hundred years ago. He moved to Regina in the fall of 1998 and Prairie Dog recklessly hired him nine months later. It was a terrible mistake and the publication deeply regrets its inability to get rid of him. When Whitworth’s not adding typos to the hard work of Prairie Dog’s many terrific writers, writing hilarious (to him) headlines and finding inventive new ways to make the paper late for its bi-weekly press deadline, he enjoys reading magazines, newspapers and alternative comics, listening to music, playing board games, and drinking and eating. He has a cat and seven pet snakes.
