The Big Picture
Let’s get right to the point.
The media is in crisis. Traditional revenues are down and talented reporters everywhere face layoffs and buyouts. Meanwhile, propaganda-peddling stooges and “fake news” websites hand nuclear codes to creeps like Donald Trump.
It’s time to fight back.
By subscribing to Prairie Dog, you’ll be supporting a unique, locally owned media outlet that’s covered this city and province for more than two decades. Your subscription will make it possible for us to keep working with the best writers we can find.

Q & A
Why should I subscribe to Prairie Dog when I can pick it up anywhere in Regina for free?
Prairie Dog is proudly free and always will be! That said, subscriptions give our readers an easy way to directly support our news, politics, arts, science and other content. Newspapers are expensive things to create in these tough times. But if readers like you step up, Prairie Dog can do more than just survive — we can thrive. And that means more quality news and cultural coverage, which is something we all want!
Why are you doing this now?
These are challenging times for all media outlets, whether national newspaper chains or loveable, independent fishwrappers like Prairie Dog. We don’t receive grants or subsidies — all our revenue has come from advertisers (the vast majority local organizations and businesses). If we’re going to publish the kind of paper we believe you want — and know we want to produce for you — that’s just not enough anymore.
Is Prairie Dog really worth supporting?
You bet! Regina needs a strong media voice that nudges public discourse towards fact-based policy and progressive values. In a province with far-right extremists, religious reactionaries, privatization-pushing politicians and climate change deniers, that voice is needed more than ever.
Saskatchewan was the birthplace of medicare. Nowadays it feels more like a cranky conservative jamboree. This place definitely needs Prairie Dog — and Prairie Dog needs you!
What’s in it for me?
With Prairie Dog mailed to you every two weeks you’ll never miss an issue! Street box empty? Were you stuck at home with a cold and couldn’t pick the latest issue up? Doesn’t matter: you’re covered!
Subscribers also get gift cards and passes to some of Regina’s best local shops, businesses, restaurants and events, as well as unique Prairie Dog merch!
So you really think I should subscribe?
We sure do! This is a new and exciting chapter for Prairie Dog. With your help, we’ll be able to invest in the stories and features we all care about. So what do you say?
