On August 21, the Regina Symphony Orchestra will present its annual outdoor concert Symphony Under the Sky. In addition to the closing performance by the RSO, the day also includes performances by local musicians from outside the classical genre.

This year, the RSO is holding a contest to determine who should receive invites to perform. The eleven finalists are: Blake Berglund, Fortunate Isles, Fur Eel, Indigo Joseph, Ink Road, The Pile of Bones Brass Band, Rogairi, Samara Yung, Sarah Farthing, Stephen Maguire, and recent prairie dog cover chanteuse Belle Plaine.

Three performers will be selected to perform sets during the afternoon. To cast your vote for your favorites, here’s what the RSO requests you do:

Visit (and “Like”) the Regina Symphony on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/reginasymphony. On the left-hand side of the Facebook Page click the ‘BandPage’ application.  A media player will open featuring songs from each of the 11 finalists. Each song “play” will count as a vote.  Along with votes, public feedback received by the RSO towards favorite artists will weigh in on the final decision process.

On Thurs. July 21, starting at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. the RSO will remove one finalist from the contest every hour with the three winners remaining after 4 p.m. On Fri. July 22 at 8 a.m. a new song from each winner will be shared on the RSO Facebook Page Media Player.
