For several years now Regina Downtown, in association with several other sponsors, has been presenting outdoor screenings of family-friendly movies on a handful of Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. I’ve had an opportunity over that stretch to see the event play out, and it seemed like last summer in particular the screenings began to draw pretty decent crowds.

The weather’s always a big factor, of course, and so far this year that’s been kind of sketchy. But even if it is a little chilly, if you dress warm and maybe bring a blanket, you should be comfortable.

The first screening goes on July 2 in Victoria Park. There’s pre-show entertainment starting at 8 p.m., and the screening starts at dusk. The animated Disney adventure Frozen is the first movie up. The rest of the schedule is as follows: July 9 – The Avengers; July 16 – Jurassic Park; July 23 Captain America: The Winter Soldier; July 30 – Despicable Me 2; August 13 – Lego Movie and August 20 – Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

To get everyone prepped, here’s the trailer for Frozen:
