When we did an article last summer on Regina’s downtown traffic challenges caused by construction the term we used was “Roadmaggedon”.

This weekend in Los Angeles, where a 16 km stretch on typically grid-locked Interstate 405 (pictured left) has been shut down to permit the partial demolition of a bridge as part of a $1 billion freeway widening project the term they opted for to describe the potential chaos if car-crazy Angelinos didn’t make a half-assed effort to not drive everywhere like they usually do was “Carmaggedon”.

Of course, once the freeway is widened all of L.A.’s traffic problems will be solved. Right?
