In 1970 Hanna-Barbera and CBS made a cartoon series based on The Harlem Globetrotters. It only ran 22 episodes. The show followed an fairly easy formula. The Globetrotters traveled the globe, got into a conflict and then resolved the conflict with a game of basketball.

Then in 1979, Hanna-Barbera produced The Super Globetrotters. Featuring a different line-up, this team of Harlem Globetrotters all had super-powers with which they used to defeat evil super-powered villains in a game of basketball. The Globetrotters received their missions from a basketball shaped talking satellite called the Crimeglobe. They would then challenge the evil villains to a game, lose the first half because they played without super-powers and then they would use their powers to win the last half of the game. It was a very strange cartoon.
