Saturday Morning Cartoon

Today’s Saturday Morning Cartoon is another creation from comic book master Alex Toth. Toth created such cartoons as Space Ghost and The Herculoids for Hanna-Barbera Productions.

In 1967 he created Shazzan which ran for only 36 episodes. The series followed the adventures of two teenagers named Chuck and Nancy as they fly around on a camel named Kaboobie. They are trapped in a mystical Arabian world and can’t return until they find the rightful owner of the magic ring that they have in their possession. The ring is in two halves and when the ring is put together a giant genie named Shazzan is summoned and wackiness ensues.

Of course the series ended before Chuck and Nancy completed their quest leaving them trapped forever with a flying camel and a broken ring that can’t send them home.
