Received word today that another rally in support of SCN will be held at the Saskatchewan Legislature on Wednesday from 12:15-1 p.m. to protest the impending closure of the broadcaster and to learn more about the impact on the province’s film and TV industry.

Here’s an example. According to a news release from the SCN support group SCN Matters the Canada Media Fund has released its performance allocations for 2010-11. Prior to the provincial government’s decision, $939,469 had been allocated to SCN. That funding, for which no other Saskatchewan broadcaster is eligible, would have been used by provincial producers to leverage money from other sources, and assist in the creation of around 20 Saskatchewan-based TV programs and series.

With SCN’s closure, that money, and additional allocations in future years, will be forfeited, and be distributed instead to broadcasters and producers in other provinces.
